Design a cost-effective and aesthetically appealing salon space with a unique concept that promotes local artisans and craftsmanship. The salon should be distinctly divided into male and female areas while maintaining a cohesive and inviting design.The overall theme should reflect an earthy, nature-friendly atmosphere using materials like terracotta textures, mud finishes, and banana leaf elements.
The space should stand out in the city for its unique concept.The design aimed to create an environment that offered an earthy, nature-connected experience, with a strong emphasis on the use of local artisan skills. To realise this vision, a detailed investigation of local and natural resources was undertaken. A key challenge was the extensive use of terracotta, a single dominant material, employed in various applications throughout the space.
To further enhance the natural feel, mud textures, banana leaf partitions, and cane furniture were incorporated. These materials not only provide warmth and a sense of genuine authenticity but also reduce the project's environmental footprint by focusing on sustainable, locally sourced options.The space is characterised by soft lighting, natural tones, and minimal decor, all contributing to a tranquil and grounding atmosphere.
